This Privacy Policy describes how EZTax (operated by Alpha Libra LLC, "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password. If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from those providers.

Tax Information: To compute and file your taxes, we collect information you provide including Tax Identification Number (TIN), income sources, deductions, withholding tax records, and uploaded documents (payslips, invoices, receipts).

Payment Information: When you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe Customer ID and subscription status but never store your full card number on our servers.

Usage Information: We automatically collect technical information including IP addresses, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and actions taken within the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Compute your tax liability accurately under Nigerian tax law
  • Process your subscription payments
  • Send filing reminders, status updates, and important notifications
  • Provide customer support
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We use third-party services for hosting (Railway), email delivery (SendGrid), payment processing (Stripe), and file storage (AWS S3). These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • With Your Consent: We may share data with tax consultants you designate through the Service.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • TLS encryption for all data in transit
  • Encrypted storage for sensitive fields
  • Bcrypt password hashing with 12 salt rounds
  • JWT-based authentication with short-lived access tokens
  • Role-based access control and audit logging

5. NDPR Compliance

We comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. You have the right to access, rectify, and delete your personal data. You may exercise these rights through your account settings or by contacting us at support@eztaxng.com.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and tax data for as long as your account is active and for up to 6 years after account deletion to comply with Nigerian tax record-keeping requirements (Section 50, Companies Income Tax Act; Section 41, Personal Income Tax Act). You may request deletion of your account at any time through Settings.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
